About Me

Cue the light guy.

Jordan Waeles

I've always had a passion for things that emit light. One of my favourite books as a child was a catalog of industrial light bulbs that my grandfather had in his photography studio. As a teenager, as I was into hobby electronics, I bought one of the first commercially available blue LED's. It was a dim, pale lavender blue and it cost 3€ per piece. Who would have thought back then that LED lighting would become an everyday commodity?

When I realised that there was such a job as a lighting professional, it became obvious that it ticked all the boxes for me: robots that emit light, loud music, computers, tons of screens and buttons, electronics, troubleshooting stuff in the dark... basically making a profession of being the biggest nerd of the venue, and being good at it.

ChamSys MagicQ, MA dot2, MADRIX 3, Capture...

Need to shed some light on a project? I can design light plots for various types of events, for a beautiful experience your attendees won't forget.

I'm also able to draw technical plans for the rigging crew, 3D previsualisations so that your boss knows how it will look like, and I can program the rig so that all there is left is to push the buttons... which I can also do (see "Light Operator").

Maintenance & repairs

With years of experience as an electronics engineer, when I don't design my own printed circuit boards, I repair yours.

I can perform maintenance on your fixtures, so that you can keep relying on them. And when they fail, I can troubleshoot them down to single components and repair them, even with very-small fine-pitched surface-mount technology (SMT / SMD).
